Hi there, TCPC family! If you haven't heard already, we announced during our congregational meeting on Sunday, February 2nd that Pastor Rob will be taking a sabbatical in 2025 from Monday, May 5th until Monday, August 4th.
What is a sabbatical?
As the name implies, a sabbatical is a period of rest. It is typical in the PCA to provide pastors with a sabbatical after 5-7 years of employment.
Why is Pastor Rob getting a sabbatical?
To be clear, this sabbatical comes at the intiative of the session. Pastor Rob has not asked or even hinted at his need for a sabbatical. Instead, the session desires to provide their pastors the rest they need to be able to serve effectively in their ministries for years to come. A more detailed explanation can be viewed here.
What will Pastor Rob be doing during this sabbatical?
Pastor Rob will be enjoying some rest, refreshing his soul, and deepening his relationship with God. He will spend a lot of time with his family, some of it on the road to refreshing venues. He will also spend focused time on long-term vision casting and planning that is difficult to do during the usual work week.
What should we do during this sabbatical?
Please feel free to reach out to Rob periodically with non-work-related matters to provide encouragement and support. For any shepherding matters, please reach out to any of the other elders. Above all, pray for Pastor Rob and his family. Click here for a prayer guide.
